Quantification of cardiac patterns using spatio-temporal analysis of the right ventricle

Characterize the right ventricular movement to quantify cardiac patterns

The importance of the right ventricular assessment has been underestimated for long time above cardiac diseases such as congenital heart disease, pulmonary disease, valvular heart disease and heart failure, where its analysis can be of importance in the diagnosis, prognosis and the evaluation of therapy in these diseases. However, the complex anatomy of the right ventricle and its pronounced movements difficults its quantitative analysis over magnetic resonance imaging, which shown less intra and inter observer variability and allows a better analysis of the morphological structure of the right ventricle than other imaging techniques. With the characterization of the right ventricle movement is possible to find the best segmentation in each time of the cardiac cycle and with this temporal segmentation calculate cardiac patterns that can be used in clinical diagnosis and prognosis of cardiac pathologies associated with the right ventricle
