Estimation of gastrointestinal polyp dimensions using video endoscopy.

Temporal information of a video sequence is translated into movement and distance information.

Endoscopy is the main procedure to determine the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal polyps. The polyp size is one of the most important diagnosis variables. However, estimation of these dimensions is subjective. The approach herein proposed is to use temporal information of the video sequence to quantify the non regular spatial variations of diferent regions that change along the time in contiguous frames.
